Istanbul Airport Becomes the World’s Most Connected Airport

Istanbul Airport ranked first in the world for international connectivity in the Megahubs 2026 report published by aviation data and analytics company OAG. Istanbul Airport, which ranked second in 2025, overtook London Heathrow to claim the top spot this year.

According to OAG data, Istanbul Airport offers potential connections to 337 global destinations, giving it the highest potential connectivity among the world’s largest airports. Based on capacity data for the August 2025–August 2026 period, Istanbul Airport is the world’s eighth-busiest airport by capacity, with Turkish Airlines accounting for 80 percent of total capacity.
